Transfer portal – B Fye joins Rarebreeds 12u

It was his decision. Everybody that needs to know is aware of that. And I support his decision to enter the transfer portal and join a new team.

Although I will explain it in greater detail, it really is that simple and the decision was not made over night. You really had to be there, in Houston last year, when a few staff members from Rarebreeds approached my son. They jokingly asked him about playing with Rarebreeds and you could hear him say, “My dad won’t let me.” And it was true; At that time, I wasn’t with it. I take pride in being from Florida and I love the challenge of going to battle against the best in the country. I wanted to beat Rarebreeds, not be one. We let them off the hook in ATL just the year before at 10u. But his journey is and should be more about what he wants than me.

I have to give it to Marcus; he does a great job with branding his Rarebreeds organization. Brysen has been interested in playing with them for a long time. Even before they asked in Houston, he expressed desire to play for them. But while many think this is the easy way out, playing for a team 6 hours away is the hard way out.

We got zero beefs, problems, anything with TME and we were well taken care of. The expectations, routines, roles, etc. were clear. We have nothing but love and respect for TME. TK is the only person I’m putting my child on a plane with and I won’t be there at this young age. We battled side by side with the players, coaches, and families for 3 years and created great memories and bonds. Finishing #2 in the country last year is something to be proud of but we have decided to move on and wish everyone at TME the best for 12u.

For us, this about allowing Brysen to experience something new and different as he finishes up his youth ball career. We were never really in the “transfer portal” since that has been on his heart for some time. In a few years he will need to decide where he wants to go to college, so I am approaching this as a trial run for that decision. He is fully aware of the pros and cons of this decision and understands he will be playing for a team that wants him; not a team that needs him.

Rarebreeds is back-to-back national champions so he is aware that it introduces a different element in terms of how he may be treated and used as a player. This decision will give us a reference point to look back on as we decide his high school and college or if he thinks about entering the transfer portal during those journeys. Each experience is what you make it, we were all in and learned a great deal while at TME and will keep that exact energy as we transition to Rarebreeds.

Let’s be clear though, Brysen, aka B Fye, has been “RARE” his whole life. You can spend the next 48 hours on the internet and won’t find a kid with his resume and history of taking the ball out of the sky. Confidence ain’t an issue for us. When we joined TME 3 years ago we had no expectations or requirements for positions, touches, or even jersey number. He earned that through his consistent performance. Any form of football: tackle, flag, or 7v7, B Fye do what B Fye do. The process is the same. We Show up and show out. Only thing changing is the name on the front of the jersey. That trip to NC for the Battle 7v7 was the beginning, NOT the end. 12u DEAD! Lock the gates! We truly in RARE form now. See you at the Spring Game! Until next time, B U!
